I have lived in North London my whole life. Haringey was where my Cypriot grandparents emigrated to in the 1940s – and where my Italian father settled in the 1990s. I grew up in Enfield, attending a local comprehensive school.
I know how wonderful and diverse our communities are first-hand. But I sadly also know how let down we have been time and time again by Labour and Conservative politicians. Right now, everything feels broken.
The GLA and Mayor could be doing so much more to fix these issues. I have a plan to make it happen.
I will push TfL to start getting a basic thing right - making the buses run on time.
I will protect our local parks and keep them open to the public.
I will champion building the housing we need to make living here affordable again.
And I will challenge the Metropolitan Police until they win back the trust of our communities, especially women & girls and ethnic minorities.
As a former pub manager and local campaigner, I am used to bringing people together to serve the local community.
Labour have held this seat for too long and take our votes for granted. Looking around, do you really feel they have run our area well?
It’s time for a different approach.
If elected I will do what Liberal Democrats do best - act as a strong local champion for our area.
My Priorities
Fighting for our local community:
1. Improving Transport Links Across London
If elected to be a member of the London Assembly, I will fight to improve the transport links across London. I will push TFL to ensure the buses run on time making sure all areas of London are connected reliably and efficiently.
2. Challenging the Met Police to do more to protect Women and Girls
I will challenge the Met Police and fight until they win back the trust of the public and ensure that they properly tackle violence against women and girls.
3. Improving housing conditions
I will champion the building of new houses and will fight for affordable rent for local people. I will address the problems of inadequate housing conditions particlulary issues with damp and mould.
The GLA and Mayor of London elections will be taking place in May 2024. Guy Russo is the local Lib Dem candidate for the London Assembly, for Enfield and Haringey. He will be running alongside Rob Blackie, the Lib Dem Mayoral Candidate.
