Provide lighting at OR Tambo Rec

The eastern footpath in OR Tambo Rec, running alongside the Sunshine Garden Center, is used by many residents to walk, ride and scoot between Durnsford Road and Bidwell Gardens. Residents and Councillors have previously asked the council to provide better lighting provision along the footpath, as the route can often feel very unsafe after daylight hours - as early as 4pm in the winter - but so far Haringey Council have failed to act. We are therefore running a petition calling on the Council to make this a priority to ensure the safety of residents in our park.

We believe lighting options are available that should be explored which can improve safety without impacting wildlife and natural habitat, such as ensuring the colour temperature is favourable to wildlife (amber not white), and that light spill into other areas is reduced where possible. We will be asking the council to ensure this is a priority in any plans.

If you support our calls for better lighting in the Rec to improve safety, please add your name to our petition below.
