Our Priorities for Stroud Green

1) Crime & Policing

We know from our regular resident surveys, speaking with residents, and our own personal experiences living here, that many in Stroud Green are rightly concerned about crimes such as drug-dealing, anti-social behaviour, theft and more. We need visible neighbourhood policing, faster responses, and real action against repeat offenders here in Stroud Green.

We will work with police and communities to make our streets and parks safer, support victims, and ensure crime is tackled, not ignored.

2) Cost of Living & Housing

Residents of Stroud Green continue to be squeezed by the cost of living crisis, especially on things such as food, energy bills and in particular housing costs.

We will push the council to use every power it has to support our residents through the cost of living crisis, target help at those struggling most with bills and everyday expenses, and do what we can to ensure our young people are given opportunities to prosper in life - not just get by.

We will focus on increasing the council's housing stock, ensuring that Haringey homes are free of damp and mould, and tackle Haringey's notorious housing repairs service so that issues are dealt with swiftly and correctly, not left for months on end, backed up by an automatic compensation scheme for residents.

3) Parks & Green Spaces

Our local parks and green spaces are vital for health, wellbeing and community life, and are part of what makes Stroud Green so amazing.

We want to see further investment in these spaces, from Stationers Park at the very top of the ward to Finsbury Park at the bottom, to make them safe and welcoming for everybody of every age, year round.

We would look to protect Finsbury Park by taking it out of Haringey Council's hands and putting it in an Independent Community Trust, giving control back to the community, and ensuring Haringey doesn't just use it to help mitigate their huge financial debts.

About Us

Lib Dem, Nicholas Orford Williams

Nicholas Orford-Williams

Nicholas was born and raised in Stroud Green, and has lived in Haringey for nearly all his life.

Due to his disappointment of Labour-run Haringey Council, he is standing for election as he wants to see much better local services, residents properly represented and heard by their councillors and their council, and greater opportunities for young people - especially in regard to housing.

As a volunteer youth leader with the Wood Green & Hornsey Cadets and a software engineer by profession, he brings a wealth of skills to help Stroud Green, and Haringey, thrive.

Lib Dem, David Vigoureux

David Vigoureux

David has lived in Haringey for nearly a decade now, and cares deeply about social justice, the environment and education.

He has been a governor at a school in Tottenham for the past three years, and with a career in innovation for social impact, he brings great experience to ensure our community thrives.

He is passionate about ensuring everyone has a voice, especially those often left behind, and that decisions are made by communities, not to them. Having provided support to the Lib Dem councillors here in Haringey for a number of years, David has the knowledge and experience to deliver local improvements and support residents.

Lib Dem, Liz Whitlock

Liz Whitlock

Liz is a senior nurse in the NHS and has lived in Stroud Green for 29 years. Liz’s children attended Weston Park and Highgate Wood Schools. She was the Co-Chair of Highgate Wood HSA for 4 years and worked with students and teachers to bring benefits to the whole school community.

In 2018 she was a founding member of the Park Road Lido User Group (PRLUG) and has worked tirelessly holding first Fusion, and now Haringey Council, to account to ensure this this valuable community asset remains open, clean, safe and accessible to all.

Liz wants to use her local knowledge and professional skills to bring about change, hold decision makers to account and to be a voice for the Stroud Green community.

Help turn Haringey orange this May

One of the most important things you can do – apart from voting of course – is allow us to put up one of our orange signs at the front of your property.

You will be familiar with them - the orange diamond boards, similar to an estate agent’s sign, which say ‘Liberal Democrats’ on them. They are by far the best way to show how much support there is locally and remind people to vote.

Fill out your details below to request a board today. We have window posters too!
