Planning application submitted for Hornsey Town Hall

HLD

Developers have submitted their planning application for the Hornsey Town Hall site. Having seen the plans, the Liberal Democrats are outraged that zero affordable homes have been included in the application. Under the original plans four out of the 146 homes, would have been affordable. This falls far below Labour Mayor, Sadiq Khan’s, 50% “genuinely affordable” homes target and will do nothing to tackle Haringey’s housing crisis.

Your local Lib Dem team also have concerns over the height of “Block A”, which at seven storeys will impact light and views for surrounding residents. We believe that the height and scale of such a structure is not in keeping with the Crouch End conservation area.

If you share our concerns, you can visit the Haringey Council website – haringey.gov.uk – and search for planning application HGY/2017/2222 or click here, to put in your own objection by 5 Sept 2017.

The planning application for the site also features a hotel, space for restaurants/cafes/bars and some community-use areas.

The Lib Dems will continue to press the developers and the Labour-run council to deliver on key elements requested by residents during the consultation period:

  • The retention of the same amount of green space outside the front of the Town Hall
  • Community access to the building and green
  • Provisions for community and co-working space
  • No significant increase in parking or traffic on surrounding roads
  • Lower building height
