Stop Kanye West performing at Wireless Festival in Finsbury Park

The performer with a track-record of antisemitic and pro-nazi behaviour must not be given a platform in the UK, especially in a council-owned park.

Kanye West's booking for the Wireless Festival in July has sparked serious concern because of the performer's well-documented record of antisemitic behaviour. He has publicly praised Adolf Hitler and Nazis, posted that he would go “death con 3 on Jewish people”, and has been associated with the promotion of Nazi imagery.

Haringey is one of the most diverse boroughs in the country, including a large and valued Jewish community. The announcement also comes just days after Haringey Councillors unanimously passed a motion committing the council to stand up against right-wing hatred.

Details of Licensing Review Application:

“This application is made on the grounds that the operation of Premises Licence (LN/000012182) is at risk of undermining the licensing objectives of the prevention of crime and disorder; public safety; the prevention of public nuisance; and the protection of children from harm. The immediate trigger for the review is the confirmed booking on Kanye West (Ye) as headline performer for Wireless Festival 2026. The Premises Licence contains conditions (including Conditions 51 and 52) requiring that the licence holder shall reasonably request that performers do not carry out vulgar or offensive acts or remarks and do not perform acts or songs which offend or denigrate any race or religion or otherwise demean or insult sections of the community. Kanye West has a widely documented and recent history of making antisemitic and racist statements, including praise of Adolf Hitler and the promotion of Nazi-associated ideology. The licence holder has been put on notice of these concerns and has publicly confirmed that it intends to proceed with the booking. In those circumstances, the continued inclusion of this performer creates a clear, foreseeable and material risk that licence conditions will be breached and that the licensing objectives will be undermined. Given the scale of the event and its location in a densely populated and diverse area, these risks are amplified. Accordingly, a review is necessary for the Licensing Authority to determine whether the premises licence remains appropriate for the promotion of the licensing objectives and what steps under section 52 of the Licensing Act 2003 are required.”
